(5) If the employee's earnings are not subject to tax (except in the case of social security benefits), do not provide any information. The payment to the individual must be identified by the payee, intermediary, or employer. (d)Social security number. An organization must identify the employee's Social Security number on all records required to be maintained as required by paragraph (g) of this section.
