(4) If the employee's earnings are subject to tax (except in the case of social security benefits), provide the amount of tax, if any, and provide the name and Social Security number of the individual and the amount in which the tax is withheld. (5) If the employee's earnings are not subject to tax (except in the case of social security benefits), do not provide any information. The payment to the individual must be identified by the payee, intermediary, or employer. (d)Social security number. An organization must identify the employee's Social Security number on all records required to be maintained as required by paragraph (g) of this section. An organization does not have to keep separate copies of any record that includes a Social Security number. (e)Exemptions.
